Why are (some) polls important?
In this case, nearly every poll that is done asking US citizens whether they want GE foods labeled, comes up with amazingly high numbers. A poll done this fall indicated 93% of those polled wanted GE labeling.
When polls are this definitive, politicians start waking up, listening, and watching. Up until recently Congress members have said that US citizens actually don’t care about GEs very much. It is now time to show them that we do – and it isn’t just us organic foodies anymore.
The US anti-GE movement is waking up and this is a great beginning – let’s get more action!
