I belong to the Rhinebeck Community Gardens and rightfully so every member must put in so many hours a month to maintain the Garden area. Yesterday was my work day and I shoveled mulch in to wheelbarrows for about 2 hours. Needless to say I really hurt my back and spent most of the night laying on a heating pad wishing there was such a thing as a spine transplant.
But because deep down inside I am a masocist I cannot stop thinking about food and gardening; even while in excrusiating pain.
So, even though I can barely walk I was up this morning fussing with strawberry plants, and planning a container garden for our apartment patio. My brother and fiance think I'm crazy out in my PJ's on the patio telling them where I want them to mount the containers.
Even thinking to myself that maybe if I take enough painkillers I could get the spinach in today. I JUST CAN'T STOP. I just love fresh food. Because at the end of the day that's what I'm doing this for. Fresh homegrown food with a whole lot of love. Because everyone knows things taste better with a little bit of love (and maybe a whole lot of pain).
