Local news round up: Newburgh's Urban Farmers League, new organic market, report on agribiz

On Saturday a group of youths along with community leaders launched the Urban Farmers League in Newburgh. In partnership with Orange County Land Trust and the City of Newburgh the youth will farm a vacant lot at 59 Chambers Street.

"As youth in the community, we are tired of the negative stereotypes that are applied to us. The perception of a few does not determine the action of the whole. We are creative individuals who intend on using our voices and opinions to educate and better our neighborhoods. Our youth farm will be a venue for community education,” according to a statement by 17-year-olds Jerome Little, and Angelica and Victoria Scialpi.
