FYI, something about the problem of getting local foods to local tables at True/Slant.

I just posted a series of articles on True/Slant about problems sourcing local foods. Many of our favorite Hudson Valley farmers are mentioned, and there is an extensive interview with Stephanie Turco of Veritas Farms. I hope you all will take a look, tell your friends, and maybe (I hope!) leave some comments.

Thanks Cheryl, for both the kind words about the local food articles and for posting on Facebook. The more we can let the world know about Hudson Valley bounty the better it'll be for everyone. I really enjoyed that in addition to interviewing Stephanie from Veritas Farm I was able to mention lots of my favorite area farms and farmers: Ray Bradley, Pete Tailagerro, Oliverea Schoolhouse Maple, Acorn Hill, Jim Hyland and Winter Sun, and Awesome Farms. So, thanks for helping spread the word (and I hope others do as well)!

I read those articles and thought they were so good I posted them on Facebook.
Thanks.

Thanks Joyce, glad you took a look. The "system" really is set up to make it harder rather than easier to eat the food we can actually see growing ... and Meghan, you raise an interesting issue. My sense is that NYC makes it a bit easier to buy from Farmers' Markets, but that we have such a treasure-trove of CSA and at-the-farm options here in the Valley. And, bravo, HVFN is growing into a wonderful resource were we can make those all-important "food connections."

Great articles and many good points made. It is amazing that folks drive by food sources daily but don't know quite how to connect. Connection really is the bottom line...

Thanks Todd. I look forward to reading! One thing that fascinates me about the Hudson Valley is that the NYC set has an easier time getting our local food than we do! That's one of the reason's I started HVFN.
