POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                    POLICY INTERN

REPORTS TO:      VP, Research & Policy

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Assist with research for food policy project exploring local food systems infrastructure development and local food procurement policies & practices.
  • Data gathering and analysis.
  • Literature review and drafting.
  • Other research assistance as assigned.
  • Spring semester 2012, with potential to extend into the summer.
  • Flexible hours
  • Unpaid

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Well-organized and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of the Hudson Valley and food policy a plus

WORK LOCATION:          

Pattern for Progress office, 3 Washington Center, Newburgh, NY (adjacent to SUNY Orange campus)

 

DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION:

Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress is the Hudson Valley’s longstanding independent public policy, planning and advocacy organization.  Pattern creates regional solutions to quality of life issues by bringing together business, nonprofit, academic, and civic leaders from across nine counties to collaborate on issues such as:  municipal sharing and local government efficiency; affordable/workforce housing; revitalization of urban areas; land-use policy; transportation and other infrastructure issues, that impact the growth and vitality of the regional economy.
