2010 Farmers market tour
Rosendale Farmers Market
Rdale is a secretly hip little Ulster county town. Even though you can drive through it in the blink of an eye there is an undercurrent of social creativity alive in the community, hence the farmers market.
The market is a fairly young market going on its third year of business. Growing a
little bit each year, the market has everything a good market should.
With local meats (pork, poultry, beef and eggs), bread, cheese, wine
and mead you can do all your shopping for a good week to come. I do
believe this is the first time I have seen mead at a farmers market,
check the link to Long Island Meadery at the bottom of the page. Two new comers to the market this year are Esopus Creek Farm
of Lomontville NY and Evolutionary Farm of Springtown rd in New Paltz.
Both farms had an impressive display of hearty vegetables for the
opening day of market with a spread from kohlrabi to Napa cabbage they
showed a promising season of quality local veggies. The community
seemed to be happy the market was back in session as the locals where
chatting up the farmers and taking in the tunes from the musician of
the week.
You will find the Market just outside of town over the big blue bridge heading south on Rt. 32 toward Tillson and New Paltz. Market is every Sunday 9-2 and once a month throughout the winter at the Rosendale Rec.Center
