Haldane Central School District receives first delivery of fresh produce from Glynwood Farm

Get ready folks, Haldane now has a local salad bar!Starting tomorrow and for the next three Fridays, Haldane's Salad Bar will be stocked with fresh, local greens from Glynwood Farm. I just picked up the first week of fresh lettuce, radishes and beet greens at Glynwood today. "Cool... but were these local apples? You'd be hard-pressed to find a local Gala or Honeycrisp at this point... (we sold out of those in late October!) and Granny Smith really don't "finish" in this neck of the woods... …"

Hudson Valley Farm to School: Chef in the Classroom at Haldane Elementary School February

On Friday, February 10th, Chefs Mark and Sunny visited Mrs. LeMon's 4th grade class and Mrs. Battersby's 5th grade class. They brought with them an assortment of local apples – some green, some red, some round and some tall. Chef Sunny started the class with some fun apple facts. Did you know there are 7500 different varieties of apples? Some are sweet, some sour. Some are hard and crunchy and some are a little mushy. They originated in China. Get ready folks, Haldane now has a local salad bar!
