Hi all,

Does anyone have any recommendations on good sources for heirloom fruit seeds? I'm mostly thinking strawberries (for next year), but would also appreciate any info on relatively affordable sources for raspberry canes (that are preferably not from Lowes/Home Depot, etc).

Thanks!

Do you know what varieties you are looking for? I'm at Catskill Native Nursery and we do many different types of strawberries and raspberries. We also grow things blackberries, currants, gooseberries, huckleberry, pawpaw, ligonberry, mulberry and elderberry. In the winter we email a list of heirloom and hard-to-find fruit trees so people can special order their favorites. If we don't carry a variety you are looking for I might know a source.
Thanks Diane! I'm actually not sure which varieties I'm looking for, I know I like smaller strawberries, but am unfamiliar with the heirloom varieties and really need to learn more about them. I'm about an hour or so from Catskill but will definitely keep it mind for next year!
Only our plants are from the Catskills, the nursery is in Kerhonkson (between Kingston & Ellenville off of 209 on County Rte 3). The small strawberries are alpines, and we do have them. Don't give up on new cultivars, they are selected not GMO and many have excellent taste and are more disease resistant than some older varieties. The concept of heirloom can get be very confusing in the plant world, especially when it comes to fruit.
