Perfect time to plant fall crops. Lettuces, mescalin m ix, chard, spinach, radishes etc. One reason is that many stores are clearing out stock of existing seed. Even though the seed packs are labeled for 2010 they will survive and grow next spring.
I planted some radishes over the weekend! I'm excited as I missed the spring seeding, and was warned that summer plantings would make radishes that were too hot... Thanks for the heads up!
I would love to hear a bit of more information on fall crops. You plant these as seed now and next spring they will grow? Is there a complete list of crops to plant for fall? And how early will they start to grow? My space is very limited and I am a novice gardner so I would love some advice and/or info.
Grow next spring was meant to say that if you buy seed packs now that may be on clearance they will still be good to plant in 2011.
Great plants to sow seed now are: Lettuces, kale, collards, radishes, spinach, chard, any salad greens.
Chives do well now also and a perennial
i also just started another crop of zucchini. Any seed that lists days to harvest under 60 (listed on back of seed pack) will do fine in the fall.
Broccoli and cauliflower are great fall crops
