I generally stick around New Paltz for apple picking, but I'm wondering where everyone else goes? Last year I had fun at Dressel in New Paltz and Overlook in Marlboro.

I'm going picking this weekend ... so let's also start talking recipes! What varieties do you use for applesauce, pies, etc.?

I went to Dressel last year and it was a madhouse. Good stuff though--apples of all varieties and plenty of other great stuff too. I think I'll try Hurd's or another one out by Ohioville this year.

I'm satisfied eating them solo or with something simple, like hummus or cheddar. Actually, sliced apple with extra-sharp cheddar over chicken breast is wicked....

I just finished eating this unique baked apple pancake recipe. Really simple (except for trying to flip this thing over) and delish!

I love going to Fishkill Farms in Hopewell Junction. http://www.fishkillfarms.com/
They have the best apple cider. It's totally smooth, no sediment ever settles on the bottom. It has the perfect sweetness.

I've made apple-pear sauce from their apples.
