I farm at Regeneration CSA High Falls and recently expanded to a field near the Marbletown Elementary School in Stone Ridge. The kids will be able to walk over! There is an afterschool gardening program happening already at the school and a garden plot on the school grounds. Myself and folks from the group 'From the Ground Up' are excited to be expanding the 'campus' of sustainable food growing for the kids. Ultimately it'd be nice to achieve having farmland on each school campus with food grown for the lunches! Freezing/ Rootcellaring summertime food in the school kitchen/ rootcellar : ) for when school begins in the Fall.
Well, I know we are far off, but we are on the right track! So I am looking for any suggestions from educational games for fun on the farm to negotiating with administration and bringing in state funding. HA! Let's at least have fun while we try to get healthy food to our children!
