I'd like to create an amaro, or bitter, by infusing aromatic plants into neutral alcohol.   Like in Italy, country people forage locally creating a liquor that is a product of their countryside. …Continue

Hi, my boss asked me to see if I could find some seasonal help, around this time of year we need to prune all the grape vineyards.  The actual pruning is easy, any relatively intelligent person will grasp the concept fairly quickly.   You will need a reliable ride (unless you are really close to me in Highland), warm clothes (aka a good coat and boots, gloves), and your own water bottle and lunch.  We need three or four guys or gals for the next three weeks, and if your a good fit for our farm than a permanent position MAY be available for the season (future tasks may include pruning raspberries, pears, apples, peaches, raking pruning, tying grape vines, harvesting and or packing said crops, making deliveries, staffing wine tasting room or events, farmers markets).  Pay is basic (I wont set a number that is the bosses job) hours are long and hot, but the experience is vast and priceless, learn by doing.  Everything about this job is Hudson Valley, we grow first class fruit for our customers (like Adams and the CIA) as well as make very popular wine (and sell our grapes to several HV wineries), on a steep hillside with expansive views of the valley every time you lift your sweaty brow.

Also try Basha Kill in Wurtsboro. His estate wines would be organic or close to organic.

You might want to try Stoutridge Vineyard in Marlboro.

I think that the closest organic winery is in the Finger Lakes. I don't know any local ones... although there are some great wineries nearby.

Are there any wineries in the Hudson Valley, which make organic wine?

I have a small, one acre, field I am considering planting in barley (or rye) if there are enough people interested in working with it.
