Calkins Creamery is offer its bi-annual pork sale now, with a reservation deadline of Oct. 10.
The pigs are fed whey, a by-product of the cheesemaking process, resulting in lean, tender, delicious meat.
The creamery takes deposits for 1/4 or 1/2 hogs, and customers pick up their butchered, frozen and packaged pork at the farm in Honesdale, Penn. and pay their outstanding balances. A pick up date in late December/early January will be scheduled with each customer.
