I'm a fairly novice veg gardener, and I've recently discovered a pretty cool video series on youtube called growingyourgreens.com. there's over 350 videos on all kinds of things and this morning i watched on about replenishing soil using rock powders. I'm wondering if anyone uses them and can tell me more.

Thanks!

Jill

you got some rocks in that noggin of yours!!!! j/k.....interesting idea.

well something is rattling around in there!

actually there's two products i've looked at: azomite and gaia glacial. thinking about ordering the azomite.

lovely seeing you at the store last weekend.

Rock powders are very good.  I have never used them myself but have heard of the benefits.  Also condensed sea water is great.  You can buy this on the internet.  The raw food guru David Wolfe has some great videos talking about both of these.
I just use homemade compost and occasionally some Espoma Green Sand. Part of growing my own is to see how self-sustainable I can be. I try and use only what I have locally and can make.
Hi Jill,  usually I've used compost and few various "rock powders" here and there as the soil test seemed to suggest, but I wanted to let you know there is a 5 part workshop series put on by The Real Food Campaign, http://realfoodcampaign.org/workshop-series-2010-2011 that focuses on producing nutrient dense food by replenishing minerals in the soil using, you guessed it, rock powders.  Everything from epsom salt for magnesium to granite powder.  The last course for 2011 already has one workshop under its belt, but perhaps you can catch up?
wow that looks amazing. thanks!
