Anyone have ideas for a Hudson Valley rustic wedding venue that can fit more than 150 guests?
I'm already looking at Whitecliff, Millbrook, OC Arboretum, etc.
Are there any secret spots out there that our members know of?

Permalink Reply by Nicholas Kaye on February 17, 2011 at 7:21pm Rustic? Have you considered TuthillHouse at the Mill in Gardiner? Riverside Indoor/Outdoor Dining, under the Gunks, all around an 18th century landmark gristmill! We could definitely accomodate 150 guests, feel free to call or email for details, or setup a tour.

Full Moon in Big Indian. I have heard from a few people who have attended weddings there recently and loved it.
Opus 40 in Saugerties.
Permalink Reply by Sarah Brannen on March 10, 2011 at 10:21am Congrats! I'm also getting married this June and am trying my best to do all local. I looked at a few places, including one up near Hudson that I absolutely loved, called Apple Barn Farm. The grounds are gorgeous and they have a farmhouse that is attached. However, the woman who runs the place is a little bit of a challenge and they don't have any pricing written down. If you're okay flying by the seat of your pants and are flexible on price, I would say check it out. I ended up just going with Locust Grove, which is a beautiful site and really easy. But it's not as rustic. There is also some competing place near Apple Barn Farm that offers another barn/farm type wedding venue, but I can't remember the name. Millbrook Winery also has beautiful grounds but you'd have to use a tent for that many people.
As for caterers-- we're using Artist's Palate in Poughkeepsie. The owners, Meghan and Charlie are amazing, creative, and have relationships with a lot of local farms. Highly recommended.
Now I'm just having a really hard time sourcing a local pie baker! Any suggestions?
