Who: Me! I have been reading tarot for 27 years and was head Tarotist for Cauldron, LA's largest neopagan store, and a member of Psychics for Charity in Toronto.  Clients for events included MAC cosmetics, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and tons of bridal showers, restaurents, musical concerts, art openings, etc. I also taught Tarot. Now I perfer to offer the Tarot readings and astrological info for non-profits and community events, like Planned Parenthood.  www.HeatherTreasure.com

What: If you are having a silent auction, door prizes, or other form of funraising, you can give a one hour phone reading (that is how I worked with most of my clients because as Hollywood industry people they were off on location) gift certificate.  Or offer an emailed natal birth chart interpretation, personal one month horoscope based on their chart and/or a compatibility interpretation between two people's charts.

Another option is to have a safe driver pick me up and drive me home to the event (I do not drive), where I could do six 10 minute Tarot readings.  However, I have fibromyalgia and am allergic to sunlight/heat/humidity, so I would need to be indoors (also the wind blows the cards away!).  I would need a small table (card table sized or a bit smaller is great) and a chair with a back for me and a chair for the readee. Plus I require an assistant to set the table up, write the names of the first 6 people who ask for readings, tell me when 10 min is up, and keep it orderly.  People tend to get really upset if they don't get their reading, so the assistant is crucial.  Some places charged $10 or $15 for the 10 minute reading; others included the service in their entrance fee.

When:  Anytime - but events like Marti Gras and Halloween are a natural fit.  Oh, yeah, about that awful fibromyalgia.  I might say no if I am having a flare up or know the car ride would be too long.  And I might have to cancel last minute if I am in pain because I cannot focus that way.  Please note I like at least a week's advance notice.

Where: I am in Saugerties and will ride in a car for 45 min to an event- after that my body starts to ache.  If you raffle a reading or astrology emails off, the readee can be anywhere.

Why: For you: Trust me, people go nuts for a Tarot reading.  I usually have people crying who didn't get in the list of people.  When I felt better, I could do 20 readings a night and the lines were always much longer than that.  A lot of people think "What the Hell?" since it is $10; men often buy them for their dates; and some people actually do want some help.  A Tarot reader makes events more memorable.

For me: I gave up my business 6 months ago for ethical reasons.  My goal is to do work that is part of, let's say, The Great Turning from an industrial-growth-society to a life-sustaining one.  Helping clients make their relationships with married men work or decide which awful Hollywood movie to make or how to get ahead in their corporate job was making me sick inside. It was just maintaining the status quo.  Also, I am not into anything New Age so I didn't have much in common with these people or anyone in the field.  After a lot of prayer, I decided that the Tarot and astro gifts are something I only want to use to help my dream of an egalitarian, sustainable human lifeway and the regeneration of the land.  My interests include local food, biodiversity, permaculture, domestic violence shelters, sexualized violence recovery programs, local economy, indigenous rights, wild and farm land protection, conservation, pro-choice, disability advocacy, and much more!
