Free Red Wigglers for Worm Composter

Hi Heather!  I was wondering if you still have some extra wigglers for a new composter.  I work at Phillies Bridge Farm Project in New Paltz and want to build a worm bin with some kids.  If you have some extras I can be reached at amie@philliesbridge.org.

Hi Amie!  I wish I did - the heavy humidity of the past 12 days killed a lot of the worms.  I have been adding dried tissues etc to help them out, but they have drowned in their own wet castings, and with FMS i don't have the strength to clean it out myself and the hurricane clean up has taken my helpers front burner efforts.  Hopefully in 3 months they will go nuts with mating again - they do multple very fast!  If later they could help you, please contact me again.  i feel like a bad worm mom.  :(

I don't remember where I got mine, but it was online from a store that sold worm composters.  You want to have the composter ready before you get the worms BTW.  I hadn't times that very well LOL!  Worm composting starts off slowly than they start having babies and in 6 months it's amazing how much they eat!  Red wigglers are the only worms I know for this, earth worms are anti-social and don't work in a team setting.
