Event Description

Many farms in the region have suffered extensive damage due to the heavy winds and flooding of their crop fields. In addition, the storm came on what would have been a busy weekend at peak season, but many markets were forced to cancel resulting in huge economic losses as well. Several of the farmers in our market have been particularly hard hit. Reports are still coming in, but this is what we know as of today:

  • Taliaferro Farms in New Paltz had the majority of their crops and their house flooded.
  • Brittany Hollow Farm in Rhinebeck lost their fall crop of greens and potatoes.
  • The River Garden in Catskill had 95% of their flower fields flooded.
  • Sky Farm in Millerton is monitoring fields but thinks the latest sowing of seed may have washed away.
  • Chatham Brewing in Chatham lost all inventory due to power failure.
  • Highland Farm in Germantown - Farm okay but house flooded.
