Rain Gardens for Stormwater Management Workshop

Rain gardens look like regular flower gardens but function to capture and soak up rainwater from roofs and driveways before it becomes runoff. Cornell and Rutgers Cooperative Extension rain garden experts will teach participants what they need to know to get started with their own rain garden projects, from site selection to the choice of plants and maintenance.

Participants may be eligible for a $200 mini grant to be used for the purchase of plant materials suitable for building their very own rain garden!

This FREE informative classroom presentation will take place from 9:00am to 12:30pm on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Town of Ulster Town Hall located at 1 Town Hall Drive in Lake Katrine, NY and is intended for anyone interested in backyard storm water management.

Five $200 Rain Garden mini grants will be available to homeowners who participated in the rain garden workshop that was held on March 25, 2009 or who attend the March 13, 2010. It is also required to participate in the next Ulster County rain garden installation which is tentatively scheduled for May 21, 2010, location to be announced.

Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, March 9. No walk-ins please.
