Event Description

The staff at CCE Dutchess County will be teaching an introductory class on starting a backyard vegetable garden. The class will discuss how to prepare for a successful gardening season in 2010. A follow up class will be held early next year to discuss plant care and harvesting.

Topics include: site selection, plant selection, transplants versus direct sowing, and fencing options. This class will also discuss improving garden soil through composting and cover cropping.

Cost is $10 per person, payable at door. Please contact Nancy Halas at nh26@cornell.edu to register.
