Hudson area neighbors can enjoy an evening of delicious fun at “Other People’s Food,” a
benefit pot-luck dinner and screening of the animated feature “Ratatouille” on Sunday, February
12, beginning at 4 p.m. Funds raised will help Acres Co-op Market open its doors, while the
evening builds community with the sharing of food.
“Other People’s Food” takes place at Stair Galleries, 549 Warren Street, Hudson, N.Y..
The space is fully handicapped-accessible. Parking is free on-street and in nearby municipal lots.
The movie begins promptly at 4:15 p.m., and the potluck buffet begins at 5:45. “We timed it
thinking both of families with kids and weekenders who need to catch evening trains,” said
Mona Coade-Wingate, the Acres Co-op board member coordinating the event.
In Disney Studios’ 2007 feature-length cartoon comedy "Ratatouille," a French rat named
Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite the rodent-phobic nature of the profession. “We
have a lot of great chefs in Columbia County who are co-op supporters,” said Coade-Wingate,
“but there are also a lot of wonderfully talented home cooks. We didn’t solicit the professionals
to provide food this time, so that in the spirit of Ratatouille, everybody can be a culinary star.”
Those who wish to bring a dish should contact Coade-Wingate in advance, as should anyone
willing to volunteer at the event. Reach her at 774-722-0664 or Mona@acrescoop.com.
The suggested donation is $10 per adult, with children under 12 free. But everyone is
welcome, so attendees are simply asked to pay what they can, or bring a dish for the potluck if
they wish. There will be a donation-basis wine bar, and participants may also BYOB. A raffle
will be held for a co-op membership, normally $150, with tickets at $1.
