Organic Farming

Join us for another "Meet the Farmer" series to learn more about local food and meet face to face with the farmers that grow the food sold at our markets.

Taliaferro Farm is a certified organic farm located in New Paltz, NY. Pete Taliaferro purchased the farm in 1995. He and his family including two sons and a daughter participate in all aspects of running the farm. Besides growing vegetables and fruits they also raise chickens and produce their own eggs.

Pete will discuss different topics such as why he decided to become an organic farmer, what it means to be organic, what are the main differences in organic growing methods, and will answer your questions.

Taliaferro Farm will provide eggs from the farm for a cooking demonstration. The eggs will be prepared with vegetables that are currently available at the farmer markets. Everyone will have a chance to taste prepared dish and light refreshments will be served during the event
